Local & celebrity chefs team up for fundraiser.

Some of the best chefs of Boston will join together this Tuesday, Jan. 31 for a cooking competition to raise funds for President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign. The event will be held at the Cyclorama on Tremont St., Boston.

The judging table won’t be as harsh as "Top Chef’s" crew, but Governor Deval Patrick and Diane Patrick, State Treasurer Steve Grossman, and chef Ming Tsai will have the burden of tasting, and judging, the best of the best.

Representing for the South End: Jamie Bissonnette of Toro and Coppa, Gordon Hamersley of Hamersley’s Bistro, Barbara Lynch of No. 9 Park, B&G Oysters, Stir, The Butcher Shop, Rebecca Newell of The Beehive, Evan DeLuty of Stella, Marco Brian Reyelt of Franklin Café, and Ting Wen Yen of Oishii.

Chefs also competing include Jody Adams of Rialto and Trade, Chris Coombs of Deuxave and DBar, Tiffani Faison of Sweet Cheeks, Will Gilson of The Herb Lyceum, Barry Maiden of Hungry Mother, Seth Morrison of The Gallows, and Marc Orfaly of Pigalle.

Openly lesbian Tiffani Faison made it clear why she’s participating: “I am thrilled to support President Obama, a leader who operates with integrity and values equality.”

The support for President Obama’s reelection to Pennsylvania Ave. doesn’t stop on Tuesday, though. The chefs have banded together to contribute recipes to Chefs for Obama, a cookbook including 13 original recipe cards from some of the participating chefs.
