Baker considers gay Repub. for running mate by Hannah Clay Wareham
Associate EditorSunday Nov 22, 2009 Senate minority leader Richard R. Tisei -- currently one of the four politicians Republican Charles D. Baker is considering as a gubernatorial running mate -- publicly came out as gay on Nov. 19 during an interview with the Boston Globe.
"It is not exactly a news flash," Tisei said of his sexuality. "I don’t think people really care these days."
Baker is also considering House minority leader Bradley H. Jones Jr. of North Reading, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, and state Representative Karyn E. Polito of Shrewsbury for lieutenant governor, although Tisei is currently seen in the lead.
The announcement of Baker’s decision is expected soon.
