Yoon excites at forum

I’m beginning to see the appeal of Sam Yoon. He’s reminiscent of Obama and he stands in stark difference to his rivals. He’s got passion and he shows it. And the crowd at Thursday night’s candidate forum at the Reggie Lewis Center ate him up.

Michael Flaherty started the forum strong, but quickly wilted. Flaherty is going to have to show some passion. His message is sound- more beds for rehab and detox, hire more locals for construction jobs-but his delivery is flat.

McCrea continues to level charges at the three elected-officials he’s running against. He’s fact-checked here. He adds comic relief, but his charges don’t hit the mark, and even some of the civilians sitting around me last night realized that.

And our mayor. Menino made the right choice showing up last night, and he (and the other candidates) are making the right choice by ignoring most of McCrea’s charges. But he’s going to have to bring more to the table then repeating "move the city forward" over and over again. This crowd cheered every time the other candidates said something negative about the BRA. The mayor responded that the BRA had "done a lot of good things." Then tell us what they are, Mr. Mayor.
