This comes under the heading of "better late than never." Last January the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force honored Boston bisexual activist Robyn Ochs with its Susan J. Hyde Activism Award for Longevity in the Movement. The Task Force presented Ochs the award at the Creating Change conference in Denver. Ochs, who travels the country as a public speaker on bisexuality, has a long and impressive resume: she co-founded the Boston Bisexual Women’s Network and the Bisexual Resource Center, and she is the editor of the anthology book Getting Bi: Voices of Bisexuals Around the World, which continues to be updated and translated into new languages. Ochs has taught sexuality studies at MIT, Tufts and Johnson State College, and she has served on the board of MassEquality.

It seems particularly fitting that Ochs received the Hyde award, which is named after another tireless Bay State activist, the Task Force’s Sue Hyde, who coordinates each year’s Creating Change conference. There must be something in the water here.
