Community Servings delivers four millionth meal; hosts "Cupid’s Coming Out"
by Hannah Clay Wareham
Associate Editor
Tuesday Feb 9, 2010

Community Servings, a not-for-profit food and nutrition program serving the critically ill in eastern Massachusetts, celebrated its twentieth anniversary Tuesday, Feb. 9 by delivering its four millionth meal with the help of Boston mayor Thomas M. Menino and Massachusetts Commissioner of Public Health John Auerbach.

Community Servings also dedicated its building -- including a kitchen and nutrition center -- to Joan H. Parker, the wife of the late Robert Parker, who has been a long-time advocate for the program.

In addition, Community Servings will host an upcoming "Cupid’s Coming Out" Valentine’s Day party featuring an auction of available singles. Hosted by Varla Jean Merman, the event will be held at the W Hotel in Boston (100 Stuart St.) on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m.

Community Servings provides meals to 725 clients per day across 200 square miles in eastern Massachusetts, and has recently begun to offer assistance to people struggling with HIV/AIDS in South Africa. For more information, please visit www.servings.org or call (617) 522-7777 x237.
