HBO to explore female-to-male transition in new series by Hannah Clay Wareham
Associate EditorThursday Nov 12, 2009 Premium cable channel HBO will explore the intricacies of a female-to-male transition in their upcoming half-hour drama series called "T."
The series, still in development, will follow a gender transformation in detail. Transgender topics are nothing new to HBO, however. The 2003 telepic "Normal" portrayed Tom Wilkinson’s character’s desire to be female. Both Wilkinson and his co-star Jessica Lange were nominated for Emmys for their roles the show.
Married couple Anya Epstein and Dan Futterman, showrunners of current series "In Treatment," pitched the idea to HBO and will serve as the show’s executive producers.
