Bent Wit asks the important questions
BY EVAN PETTO | MAY 25, 2010
This June 13 at OBERON, Axe To Ice Productions and the cast of Bent Wit Cabaret let their freak flag (and pride flag) fly, while asking the question, "What the fuck am I made of?"
BWC: Identity, hosted by the outrageous UnAmerika's Sweetheart Karin Webb and the legendary 86-years-young Mary Dolan, was deemed "provocative and way outside the box cabaret/burlesque" by the Boston Survival Guide. Bent Wit Cabaret is a monthly "high-end, low-brow variety show" with a brilliant core cast of collaborating performers and musicians. With "Identity," the show takes a deeper look into who we are, why we do the things we do, and whether or not anyone else is aware of it.
BWC: Identity brings back the indomitable NYC-based trans spoken word artist Kit Yan, the hilarious Baratunde Thurston of "The Onion," and trans dancer and burlesque artist Ms. Lolita LaVamp. Also featuring video by Alex Carey-Cooper and Tesselight installation sure to bring the room to its knees. These guests will join Bent Wit's core performers Sugar Dish, Lainey SchoolTree, and Femme Brulee, as well as the Bent Wit House Band, Elephant Tango Ensemble.
Bent Wit Cabaret is a regular show at OBERON, running the second Sunday of every month. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 dollars at the door, and are available at www.cluboberon.com or at OBERON, 2 Arrow St., Cambridge, MA. Seating is limited.
