Whoopie Goldberg and Bruce Vilanch hit PTown
The Provincetown of this century has become an grownup theme park—with our very own Mickey Mouse (John Waters) and Muppet (Bruce Vilanch). Add Whoopie Goldberg to this mix and you have the perfect balance of talent and show bix.
Goldberg and Vilanch perform solo shows, then join together (in a Merv Griffin turn) to riff off of each other and the audience. Catch their unbridled comedy this Sunday, Aug. 5, at Provincetown Town Hall, 260 Commercial St., Provincetown. Two shows: 7 and 9:30 p.m.
The pairing is a benefit for Provincetown Cares, and Goldberg will recieve the 2012 Provincetown Cares Award for her efforts to improve women’s health. Provincetown Cares is a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness and money for women’s health.
Goldberg has a long history of advocating for LGBT rights, HIV/AID education, and a variety of social justice issues.
Vilanch and Goldberg have a long history. Toiling behind the scenes for many years, Vilanch has won six Emmy awards and has written for the Academy Awards, Tonys, Grammys and Emmys. He’s been a long-time AIDS activists and frequent Provincetown visitor and performer.
