More than 900 people turned out for Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders´ 13th Annual Spirit of Justice Award Dinner at the Boston Marriott Copley Hotel on Oct. 26. This year´s Spirit of Justice Award was given to the Rev. Irene Monroe, renowned African American lesbian activist, scholar, public theologian and Bay Windows columnist, for her long history of groundbreaking activism. This year´s Spirit of Justice Award Dinner raised nearly $650,000 to support GLAD´s work in the New England states to end discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and HIV status.
