The speaker of the Rhode Island House says he’ll seek another term.
Speaker Gordon Fox says Monday that if he wins re-election he plans to seek another term as the top lawmaker in the House. Fox, a Providence Democrat, became the nation’s first openly gay speaker when he was chosen by fellow lawmakers in 2010.
The 50-year-old attorney has served in the House since 1993. The 75-member House will vote for speaker on the first day of next year’s legislative session. The position has a two-year term.
