Boston Herald columnist Steve Buckley hosted the first awards banquet for the LGBT sports community.

The event, modeled to be a gay cousin of ESPN’s Espy sports award show, was the brainchild of Boston Spirit publisher David Zimmerman and Marc Davino. This year’s ICON Award was awarded to Northeastern University Athletic Director Peter Roby to recognize his support of LGBT athletes at Northeastern.
