MassEquality PAC welcomes new board member

LGBT advocacy organization MassEquality announced March 12 that Neal Minahan, Esq., will join the group’s Political Action Committee Board of Directors.

Minahan, a partner in the Boston office of McDermott Will & Emery LLP, directs his professional focus on complex business disputes and government enforcement matters. Minahan was named one of the nation’s “Best LGBT Attorneys Under 40” by the National LGBT Bar Association; one of 20 “Up and Coming Lawyers” by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly; and a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2011.

“We are lucky to have Neal join us. He’s a strategic thinker and strongly committed to the LGBT community,” said MassEquality Political Action Committee Board Chair Peter T. Dziedzic, Jr. “As an attorney, he has devoted more than six years to significant civil rights cases affecting LGBT people in Massachusetts, including securing gender-related medical treatment for an incarcerated transgender woman.”

“I’m excited to join MassEquality’s Political Action Committee Board to help the organization maintain its commitment to ensuring that a supermajority of state lawmakers are pro-LGBT,” Minahan said. “That work is critical to the success of pro-LGBT initiatives ranging from helping homeless youth to better serving LGBT elders.”

Minahan serves as President and Chair of the BAGLY, Inc. Board of Directors and is a past member of the Massachusetts LGBTQ Board Association Board of Directors and a member of the LGBT Commission for the City of Cambridge. He and his husband live in Somerville.
