LGBT advocacy organization EqualityMaine announced Feb. 21 those selected to be honored at the 28th Annual Awards Dinner, to be held in Portland on Saturday, March 24.
Honorees include Tom Griffin, who will receive the Cameron Duncan Award; the Maine People’s Alliance, which will receive the Partners for Equality Award; Pastor Michael Gray of Old Orchard Beach United Methodist Church, who will receive the Faith in Action Award; Wayne, Kelly, Nicole, and Jonas Maines, who will receive the F.E. Pentlarge Award; and David Cox, Georgianna Sofia Gatcomb, Sonja M. Gerken, Jenni-Lyn Lachance, George P. Page, Chelsea Schoen, Lisa Ward, and Richard Wise, who will each receive Out Front Volunteer Leadership Awards.
“It's going to be a wonderful evening full of friends old and new,” Betsy Smith, executive director of EqualityMaine, wrote in an email to supporters. “We'll be honoring those who have made extraordinary contributions to the LGBT community and updating you, our supporters, on the work ahead to make history at the ballot box this November.”
