A South Shore gem

My daughter Rubi attends Maplewood Summer Day Camp and loves it. She started three years ago, and each year has lengthened her stay—from two weeks, to four weeks, to six weeks. As predicted, she’s already requested a longer run next summer.

I wish we had discovered Maplewood earlier, for not only do they have a terrific day camp, but also year-round preschool and afterschool programs. Maplewood is a run by the brother-and-sister team Lee Pinstein and Susan Reardon. Lee and Susan grew up at Maplewood—their parents launched the camp in 49 years ago.

Maplewood’s Preschool provides the ideal combination of fun and learning. Their goal is to provide a warm, nurturing environment where children are given opportunities to be curious, learn cooperation and problem solving skills, and build their confidence and self-esteem.

Maplewood’s Preschool’s small teacher-to-child ratios exceed licensing requirements and allow for more individualized attention.

The after school program is designed with both parents and kids in mind. One day or 5, with fun program for grades K-8. Experienced teachers assist students with their assignments in major academic subjects and work closely with them on a wide range of related projects, from skills development and mastery of content to more advanced applications.

There’s also a wide range of “fun” Activities which extend the learning experience far beyond the classroom—both indoors and outdoors. Activities include: Sports; Climbing and Challenge Course; Pottery; Arts & Crafts; Aerobics; Gymnastics and much, much more.

Situated on 30 acres in South Easton, Maplewood offers outstanding indoor and outdoor activities. Our main buildings are air-conditioned and provide space for a regulation-size gymnasium with two basketball courts, a fully equipped gymnastics area, a state-of-the-art rock climbing and ropes course, studios for Arts & Crafts, Aerobics, Karate, and more. Outdoor facilities include: a basketball court, playing fields, playgrounds, and a five-acre pond.

Don’t miss out on this great experience for your children. Call or email Sue and let her know you’re a Bay Windows reader. I couldn’t be more thrilled with their program and they have warmly welcomed my family. Let them do the same for you.
